Ad-comm Group CEO: Mr. Andreas Dannenberg

Globalization is being nurtured in Japan by the presence of two foreigner-owned PR agencies, both run by Germans.

Offering comprehensive services
The Ad-comm Group is a fully integrated, independent communications agency consisting of eight specialist companies: the PR consulting company Trimedia, as well as an advertising agency, a branding firm, IR company, etc.

Dannenberg, the CEO of Ad-comm Group, was born in Munich, Germany.
He began his journey to Japan by first traveling around the world as a photographer, compiling stories about various ethnic groups.

“I fell in love with Japan when I first came here,” Dannenberg said. Since then, he has lived in Japan for over 20 years and built the Ad-comm Group from the ground up. Ad-comm was founded in 1987, initially offering advertising/ creative business to European companies that were looking to expand into the Japanese market.

“We opened up all the transaction accounts and in doing strengthened our foundations as an advertisement agency,” he said. Trimedia, now a London-based PR agency specializing in the financial field, joined the Ad-comm Group in 1993.

“Delivering fully consolidated and seamless messages in PR and advertising enhances the credibility of a firm and its products, and enables them to conduct effective communication activities,” Dannenberg said.

Trimedia offers its services to global foreign capital enterprises and local listed companies, supporting them in the expansion of their businesses in Japan and vice versa.

“It is significant and unique in Japan to offer branding, PR, IR, advertising, web services, and event production at the same time in one group,” said Trimedia director Toru Ichikawa, who gained vast PR and IR experience during his years working in the financial industry at firms such as Merill Lynch.

The eight companies have their individual clients, yet they work closely together to make the most out of each company’s know-how.

To meet the needs of the widest variety of clients, an increasing number of PR-based companies will aim to provide more comprehensive creative services in Japan in the future.
